On the occasion of celebrating the Heritage Month in its 31st edition, under the theme “Traditional Clothing: a National Identity and a Regional Specificity,” the Agency for the Development of Heritage and Cultural Promotion (AMVPPC) organizes a cultural manifestation entitled “My Country’s Chechia: a Legacy to my Children” at the Center for the Presentation of the History and Monuments of the Medina of Tunis.
This manifestation seeks to promote to youth the craft of chechia at its various production stages as well as development through history to combine utility with fun.
The manifestation includes:
- A documentary on “Medina in our Memory”
- A scientific intervention entitled “Tunisian Chechia: its Origins and Production’s Process” by Ms. Thouraya Amri
- A workshop on the making of the chechia conducted by Arbia ben Mabrouk
The manifestation is concluded by an on-field visit to the Souk of Chaouachine at the Medina of Tunis by Ms. Thouraya Amri.
